Now that I’m approaching my 30s there is something that is becoming very clear to me. Life is full of friends and acquaintances and they can be divided into two groups: UPPERS and DOWNERS. Uppers are those friends who are constantly reinforcing the good qualities about you, making you feel lighter about the world. They give you a fab jolt… no caffeine necessary. If you want to classify even further, I think there is another category of “Super Uppers” who…
Combat Chocolate Cravings With These Tips and Swaps
We are entering the holiday season and with this comes STRESS. Now, if you are an emotional eater, then the holidays may well be a challenge on your waistline and wallet. I happen to be a stress eater (a descendant from a long line of stress eaters) and I’ve had to learn to arm myself with tricks and swaps to prevent a stress eating session. Inspirational Friends’ Brunch
I recently went to an Inspirational Friends’ Brunch at one of my dear friend’s houses and I have to share. What a fabulous concept–getting women together to discuss what (or who) inspires them daily. It was refreshing and I left the event ready to embrace the day (no mimosas necessary.) Soy Protein Isolate Overload
As I’m writing this, I’m taking the last bite of my energy bar. I swear. I’ve actually thrown the rest of the bars in the garbage (both at work and home). This includes my Luna Minis (Caramel Nut Brownie, Nutz Over Chocolate, and S’mores), my Extend bars (Chewy Peanut and Double Chocolate), and my Glucerna snack bars (Chocolate Peanut and Oatmeal Cookie). I’m debating whether I should toss my Kashi honey almond bars. They seem so healthy, with Kashi’s Seven…
Rouge and Britches
I don’t ever hear people use the word ‘rouge’ anymore, only blush. The word went out of vogue hard, like the words ‘icebox,’ ‘beeper,’ and my fave, ‘britches.’ When you hear the word rouge, what comes to mind? I think of when I was little and my Grandma Meldrum, with her black eyeliner and ornate gold earrings, would say to my mom, “Chelle, you look pale and sick, go put on some rouge.” She would then pull a compact out…
2009 Memphis – MidSouth Race for the Cure (October 31st)
On Halloween, you would expect to see Orange and black dominate the daytime attire, but the streets of Germantown, Tennessee were actually awash in a distinct, pale pink. The 2009 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure was a huge success, drawing over 16,000 participants and raising over $750,000 for breast cancer research. Count Me Healthy wants to congratulate all of the winners and all of those who volunteered to make this year’s event a smash success. We also want…
