Recently I attended an Air Core class at the “Flex and Fit” studios in downtown Charlotte, NC. So what is Air Core? In essence, it is a fast-paced workout using aerial silk hammocks designed to strengthen and tone your abdominals, obliques and lower back. The class consists of high reps over multiple circuits.
Some of the exercises we performed with the silks were planks, pikes, leg-lifts and V-sits.
I was really impressed with the Flex and Fit studio. They have all kinds of fusion classes, including Barre Strength, Air Fit, Hot Yoga and Hot Ballet (the next class I’m going to try). I also think it’s cool that they decorate with paintings for sale by local modern artists.
Regardless of where you live, check to see if they have fusion fitness classes near you. They seem to be popping up everywhere because of the lengthening, strengthening and cardio results they produce.
I’m impressed with Charlotte and all it has to offer, so look for more posts on what there is to do and see where I now call home.
