I asked Natalie Jackson of the mindful lifestyle blog, My Green Son, to talk about her homemade scrub that if she produced on a mass scale would seriously put FRESH scrub out of business. My Green Son is a great addition to your blog repertoire if you are looking for whole food family recipes and organic beauty product DIYs. – CC
What is better than a homemade, hand crafted gift. I love making this body scrub for my girls. I have made large batches of this exfoliating scrub for party favors from bachelorette parties to baby showers. I also have a few friends I keep stocked all year round. It’s made with organic ingredients and leaves skin feeling baby soft and smooth. It makes a great gift or stocking stuffer. I love that it’s organic, DIY, and perfect for a last minute gift. I always keep a few on hand for gifting and of course, me!
Ingredients:
3 cups organic brown sugar
1 cup organic coconut oil
10 drops lavender essential oil
10 drops tea tree essential oil
Directions:
Mix together, making sure to smooth the coconut oil until you can no longer see it. Pack into a cute jar. I like to make this in bulk and double or triple the recipe for big batches. Costco carries everything but the essential oils. You can find both lavender and tea tree oils at Whole Foods or Kroger.
Don’t forget the gift wrap! I am always looking for ways to green up my lifestyle. This gift wrap allows me to reuse all those brown bags I have piled up in my pantry. This adorable look not only pleases Mother Nature, but saves a little cash as well. I love the rustic brown bag look. I stocked up on a few stamps from the Target dollar section and used twine from my gardening projects. I purchased my twine from the hardware store for a steal. Simple recycled wrapping and a few stamps and you have created the perfect festive look. I also like to cut out gift tags from the bags as well. It’s a fun project and my toddler loves helping with the stamps.
Wishing you and yours a peaceful holiday.
