I was watching Parks and Rec the other day and Amy Poehler asked what she should wear for a photo shoot. Tom answered, “Gold sequined sweatpants and heels.” I love this show.
Obviously, there is “such a thing as too much bling” for this season’s golden trend. One gilded accent will make your entire outfit or room (in regards to interior design) shine. Gold really isn’t an accent color, it’s too powerful. I like to think of it more like a highlighter or “an accent to an accent color.” So, I thought I’d share some of my favorite accessories I’ve admired or acquired lately that offer just the right touch of golden.
Twinkle toes…
Sam Edelman gold snakeskin metallic heels are well priced and will compliment anything you have on.
Rebecca Minkoff Uma flats boast a fresh black and gold pattern that looks part Boho and part polished.
Bow heels
These heels with bow tops have a Valentino feel. Putting them on adds instant feminine charm.
For the wee ones!
Jewelry and Accessories
Arianne Infinity Circle Necklace in 14k gold. I wear this necklace all of the time as I feel like it just enhances whatever I have on.
Braided headbands
There are some things I feel the need to be really thrifty about and headbands are one. I wear them all the time, largely due to the fact that my hair is ultra ultra curly and headbands seem to make the mane chaos look purposeful. The one pictured below was from Forever 21 and under $3.00!
Glimmer for the home..
Speckled Cowhide Rug:
A quick note when purchasing a speckled cowhide rug. I don’t recommend purchasing online because each rug is different and has a distinct pattern. This is especially true when trying to buy one with gold splatter. This is solely a brick and mortar purchase (which means you need to go to the physical store). Mine was draped over a table as a display and I fell in love with how the gold was splashed.
Gold leaf stacking bowls
I think these bowls are darling and the fact the shape isn’t uniformly round makes them unique. This is from the talented writer, Kelli Murray, and her blog All Things Inspiring. This is a definite holiday gift project I’m going to attempt. Possible jewelry bowls?
I found the gold bowls above on Pinterest. If you would like to follow my boards, here’s my page. I think I’m going to start doing some Pinterest holiday giveaways so stay tuned. Have a wonderful week! – CC
