This post is for women of all ages, from the early 20’s to those with more mature skin. Facial luminizers, when applied correctly, will compliment your skin tone, produce a youthful glow, help you appear rested and enhance your cheekbones. They really are miracle tools and I think many women shy away from them for fear of looking a little too “roller-disco sparkly.” Don’t be afraid!
I apply it almost every day as part of my routine. I have tested many and have a couple different brands that really work for my skin tone. Here are some tips and brand suggestions if you would like to add a little dewy glow and youth to your cheekbones:
1) Determine if your skin tone throws a pink or yellow hue. Luminizers come in different tones, so it’s important to know your hue before you purchase. Also, don’t confuse luminizers with bronzers. Bronzers contour while luminizers highlight.
2) Apply after your base, but before your bronzer and blush. On days when I’m not going anywhere particularly important, I skip the bronzer and blush and just use the highlighter to “finish” my look.
3) Create the “Triangle of Light.” I learned this when I met Trish McEvoy a while back. Create a triangle (triangle point down) with the luminizer pen or wand about a half inch under your eye. Then spread back over the top of your cheekbone toward your ear.
Some of my favorites!
The Gold Standard: Trish McEvoy Luminizing Pen
If you have a pink skin tone: High Beam by Benefit
If your skin tone is more yellow: Moon Beam by Benefit
Won’t break the bank: Physicians Formula Talc Free Mineral Correcting Concealer Medium Coverage Cream Formula, Green/Light/Pink Trio. Okay, I have to elaborate on this a little. I came upon this by accident. I needed concealer and was in a pinch because I was traveling. The NUMBER 3 PINK tube, is what you will use for your highlighter. It is only $8! It also works on all skin tones and is perfect for everyday wear. I highly recommend if you just want to see if highlighting is for you.
I am always open to trying new products, so let me know if there are any highlighters you recommend. Great energy your way this week! – CC
