I was thinking of all of the things I could blog about as Memorial Day weekend kicks off. Honestly, the best topic by far is, “enjoy the moment.” It is the coolest thing when you are surrounded by your loved ones and take the time to pay attention to your five senses. I mean really pay attention to them. Are you in your backyard for the bbq? Do you have your sandels off? How does the grass feel? The sun on your face? Smell the summer weather, your sunscreen, the spicy bbq sauce on the chicken grilling? Do you hear the laughter of your children playing, or your aunt after she cracks a joke? The dog barking at the neighborhood boy as he rides his bike? If your drinking a beer, appreciate the coolness as it goes down or in your hand. Feel the slight wind, or the few droplets that splash on you from your children playing in the pool? Do you look up at the sky and appreciate the shade of blue or the crisp brightness of the flowers you worked so hard to plant? Nothing matters but being immersed in the current moment. Life is good. You are good. You are complete. You are where you are supposed to be and who you are supposed to be at this exact moment. No comparisons. Worry about the deadlines, the mortgage, the tuition, the weight loss….tomorrow. Summer is here. Be present! Happy Memorial Day.
And my favorite summer chill song to put you in a “live in the moment” mood…
Ray Lamontagne: For the Summer from the album, “God Willing and the Creek Don’t Rise”
